Crane just launched a first-of-it’s-kind local policy tracker for Crane members.
It is notoriously difficult for property managers to keep up with local legislation and policies. There are typically dozens of small incorporated cities in every area where property managers manage properties, and they all pass their own laws around security deposits, tenant screening, rental registries, etc.
Now Crane members can sign up to receive weekly email updates for their chosen jurisdictions and get notified about changes before they happen or shortly after.
Crane members can now use that data to stay compliant, be aware of legislation before it goes into effect, and create marketing content for owners.
How does the policy tracker work?
In CraneHQ, Crane members can search for their city, find and include suggested cities within 10-50 miles of that city, select policy topics and key words, and turn on alerts to get an email weekly. The email includes AI generated titles and summaries, as well as links to the original sources. You can also include multiple states and jurisdictions in the email.

Property managers can do a lot of useful things with this data. This is a great source for content for social media, blog posts, and our owner newsletter, showing owners and prospective owners that we know what is going on and are on top of things (plus how difficult it would be for them to do the same.)
Apart from that, these alerts help property managers have a voice in legislation, because we know it’s coming, and be compliant and make updates to our operations in a timely manner, rather than knowing about a new policy only a year later.
